Sprint Plans To Cut 2,500 Jobs

According to an MSN News report today, Sprint is planning on cutting nearly 2,000 jobs from their customer support centers and almost 600 more from their corporate operations in Overland Park, KS. The moves are reported to be a part of Sprint’s long term plans to reduce spending by $2.5 billion. While the short term effect of these cuts will probably be very minimal, the fact that Sprint is positioning itself to return to a profitable status is great news as their network continues to grow and increase in strength.  Sprint shares were down almost 4% on the day.
