SimpleMobile Runs Out $40 Unlimited Plan

In a day where it seems that 4G rules the planet, SIMPLEMobile sure caught our attention with this one. Although it’s been offered for some time now, their $40 unlimited everything plan seems a bit too good to be true. Sure, it’s unlimited 3G data, but how fast do you need your phone to be? Oh and did we mention that the two Jacksons you plop down for this deal gets you unlimited voice and text as well?

Powered by T-Mobile’s network in many major cities across the US, SIMPLEMobile’s philosophy makes sense to us. They charge for speed, not amount used. If they could realistically throttle data users to a $25 2G unlimited plan, the $40 3G unlimited plan and finally the $60 4G plan, SIMPLEMobile would be the best carrier in the universe. Unfortunately, they haven’t figured out that 2G part yet, so we are only mostly in love with their marketing.

The drawback to this amazing plan seems to be that many of the areas that the “3G” coverage is offered, you might only see some “2G” speeds. For the mobile Facebooker and Tweeters, this isn’t a life threatening condition, but for those using their devices for streaming radio and video, 2G isn’t going to cut the mustard for long.

In the short term though, SIMPLEMoblie seems to be a bit too good to be true at these prices. We’d love to get our hands on a demo unit to play around with and test the coverage in our area, but until then, SIMPLEMobile offers a very cost effective way of getting a smartphone in to the hands of the masses for a minimal monthly investment. Keep in mind though, you will have to shell out a few hundred bucks to get a device that will work on their network, unless you get lucky on Craigslist.
